Who We Are

We, SongForYou, are responsible for your personal information under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You can reach us at hello@song-for-you.org.

Information We Collect

When you use SongForYou, we collect the following information to create your personalized song:

• Your email address — so we can deliver your finished song and communicate with you about your order
• The name of the person your song is for — so we can personalize the lyrics
• Your quiz responses — including qualities, memories, and messages you share about your loved one
• Your genre and voice preferences — so we can match the musical style you want
• Payment information — handled entirely by our payment processor. We never see or store your card details.

To make the site work, your browser keeps a few small pieces of information on your device: where you arrived from and a random analytics ID (both only until you close the tab), the countdown and visit count on your song preview, which version of our home page video you were shown, and, for our own team only, a marker that excludes our visits from statistics. When you submit the quiz we also store your IP address and browser details to protect the service from abuse and fraud and to know roughly where our customers are; we delete them after 90 days.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide to:

• Create your custom, personalized song based on your story
• Deliver your finished song to your email address
• Communicate with you about your order, including delivery updates and any revisions
• Improve our service and the quality of the songs we produce
• Respond to your questions or support requests
• Measure and improve the website, our emails and our advertising

How We Measure and Improve the Site

To understand what works and fix what doesn't, we measure how the site is used:

• Site analytics — which pages and sections you see and which buttons you tap. Once you submit the quiz, this activity is linked to your order and your email address, so we can see the whole journey from first visit to delivery.
• Session recordings — we record how pages are used, including what you type into our forms and what you see on screen, to find and fix problems. Payment details are entered on our payment processor's secure page and are never recorded.
• Email tracking — our emails tell us whether they were delivered, opened and which link was clicked, so we know they reach you.
• Advertising measurement with Meta (Facebook and Instagram) — when you arrive from one of our ads, we tell Meta when you start your song, open checkout and buy, so we can see which ads work. We send this from your browser and from our server, with your email address in scrambled (hashed) form, your IP address and browser details. Meta may use its own cookies on its own domains under Meta's privacy policy.

We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest in running and improving the service and measuring our advertising. You can object at any time by emailing hello@song-for-you.org.

Your Song Is Private

The stories, memories, and messages you share with us are deeply personal — we treat them that way. Your song and the details you provide are created exclusively for you and are never shared publicly, used for marketing, or made available to other customers. Your story stays between us.

Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We only share your data with trusted third parties who help us deliver our service:

• Payment processing — to handle all transactions securely.
• Email delivery — to send your song and order communications to your inbox.

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users and our business.

• Hosting and secure storage — to run the website and keep your answers and songs safe.
• Lyrics and music generation — to create your song from the answers you give us.
• Fraud and abuse protection — to keep automated traffic away from the service.
• Website analytics and session recordings — to understand how the site is used and fix problems (see “How We Measure and Improve the Site”).
• Advertising measurement — Meta, to measure which of our ads lead to songs and purchases.

Data Security & Retention

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. Your data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored on secure servers.

If you don't purchase your song, we delete your answers and your preview within 30 days. If you do purchase, we keep your song and order details for as long as needed to give you access to your song and to meet our legal and accounting obligations. Your IP address and browser details are deleted after 90 days. Analytics data is kept for up to 12 months and session recordings for up to 30 days. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request corrections to any inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your personal data
• Withdraw consent for future communications at any time
